Research Focus
Being a geologist by training, my PhD research aims to investigate the interactions between microplastics and sedimentary rocks. Widely occurring at and near the Earth surface and often used as building materials, sedimentary rocks are vulnerable to human activities and can serve as important interfaces for microplastic pollution. Up until now, however, the mechanisms behind and effects of microplastic-rock interactions are poorly understood. My primary research interests currently include: 1) Attachment and detachment of microplastics on sedimentary rock surfaces 2) Impacts of microplastics presence on the weathering behaviour of sedimentary rocks
