Research Focus
Previously, my work experience involved enzymatic discovery and bioprocesses for plastizymes production. Currently working on my PhD project, I am being supervised by Prof. Nico Boon in the University of Gent. The goal is to study plastic degrading communities sourced from and active in soil environments. By applying in vitro enzymatic tests and genomic analysis, it's possible to functionally design optimal degradation for circular economy applications. My research dives into the fundamental aspects of these phenomena while aiming to find industrial applications as well. As a multi- and inter-disciplinary field, I wish to stay connected and up to date with plastic pollution research in order to continue working in future solutions.
